Maidenhead and Bray slipped to the bottom of Thames Valley League Division 2A after they failed to chase down Kew’s target of 233, but crucially picked up eight points after grinding out the draw. John Child terrorised the Kew batting order as he picked up six wickets, but similarly the Bray line-up was put under pressure by Danish Zaman (6-49). Shane Macdermott (27) and Barney Atkins (45) got things going for Kew and their solid partnership was built on by Dave Ramsden, who in at number three, played a solid knock of 63 before he, like those before him, fell to Child (6-65).
The rest of the middle and lower order for Kew chipped in to help the hosts reach 232.
Despite losing Richard Lawrence (4), Bray went about building their chase with Pieter Ethan Walker (31) and Max Thomas (34) forming a steady partnership before both fell victim to Zaman’s bowling.
Kieran Grey came in to move things on, falling just three runs short of a half-century before he was stumped off a Zaman delivery. From there the Bray order collapsed with only Jeevan Singh (26no) reaching double figures as the visitors chase ended at 191-8.
