Marlow’s slide down the Thames Valley League Division 2A table continued on Saturday as they came out second best against Kew away from home to slip into the relegation zone.
The hosts won the toss and elected to bat first in favourable conditions and their top order did not disappoint.
Lewis Abbott (39), Barney Atkins (53) and Dave Ramsden (61) all put in performances worthy of top order batsmen to build a healthy total for Kew.
Luke Peters (4-87) was Marlow’s best man in the field as he bowled Atkins, caught Abbott and delivered the ball that saw Ramsden dismissed.
Kew overcame a small wobble in the middle order before Chip Lawton (37) and Kidron Thomas (28) guided them to a very competitive 252-7.
A slow start cost Marlow in their chase as both openers – Peter Dickensen and Adam Searle departed for ducks.
Segio Feede (55) and Hareesh Reddy (78) more than made up for that, but few players from the Marlow middle order added anything of note as the away side fell away 60 runs short.
