Hurley 1sts fell to an eight-wicket defeat to Great Kingshill at Shepherd’s Lane in the first match of the 2019 league season.
The hosts were invited to bat on a bright day and openers Kelvin Baillie and Vikram Bhagwani made steady progress until Bhagwani was caught at mid-wicket in the eighth over with the score on twenty-two.
Cody Mongie helped add 39 for the second wicket until caught behind off a thin before captain Josh Coley helped raise the score to 93 before being caught at mid-off.
Baille scored 78 before being bowled off his pads and half hour before tea saw more departures than Maidenhead station, with seven wickets falling inside seven overs for the addition of sixteen runs.
After tea Great Kingshill came out on a mission as Mark MacKenzie-Crooks survived a confident appeal for a catch to add eighty-nine in twenty-two overs with Nick Mitchell as the away side reached their target to take the win.
Hurley 2nds enjoyed a better day as they won by eight wickets against Penn and Tylers Green after nearly conceding the match due to a lack of players Yashir Gul’s 89 topped the scoring for Hurley while Mike Walton also added 53. Hurley’s Sunday side were not as fortunate as they went down to a hard working Holyport, losing by 55 runs.
