Wargrave's strength in depth should stand them in good stead in Division 1 following their promotion last season, captain Neal Robinson believes.
Robinson is keen to get started on Saturday, with his side travelling to North Maidenhead, and says he'll have a better idea of how they'll get on after playing a few matches.
Last weekend they beat Cove in a pre-season friendly, a result Robinson hopes will be a good indicator for a positive summer.
“We'll have to take Saturday's game as it comes,” said Robinson. “It will be good to get going and see where we're at.
“Last year we had good depth. Our ninth and 10th players were generally better than our opponent's ninth and 10th players. We don't really have any superstars but everyone contributes. Every single one of our players won us matches last season and even the players stepping up from the seconds came in and did a great job.”
For the first time Wargrave have signed an overseas player for the campaign, with Sri Lankan seam bowler and all-rounder Mishan Silva joining the likes of Mark Firth and Toby Greatwood at the club.
“It's the first time we've had an overseas player. Hopefully that will equalise things for us and give the squad a chance to showcase how good they are.
“I think that if we aim for eighth place we'll end up missing it, so we'll just play aggressive, positive cricket and see where it takes us.”
