North Maidenhead CC are Kew jumpers in TVL Division 2A title race

Five wickets each for Sahaan John and Usman Ilyas set up a seven wickets success for North Maidenhead in their top-of-the-table clash with rivals Kew.

The victory for North Maids leaves them top of Division 2A by 19 points with four matches remaining.

After being asked to bowl first, hosts North Maids dismissed visitors Kew for 145 in the 47th over with only the top four of Lewis Abbott (30), Andrew Lewin (24), George Di Mascio (25) and Will Shaw (41) making double figure scores.

Spinners John (5-51 from 16 overs) and Ilyas (5-32 from 16 overs) were the stars with the ball for the home side.

In contrast to Kew, North Maids started poorly with Majid Ashraf (1), Saeed Bukhari (16) and Ilyas (8) soon back in the pavilion.

However, an excellent unbeaten fourth-wicket stand between Imran Butt (61) and Indian overseas all-rounder John (37no) took North Maids to their target in just 26 overs.

Kidron Thomas was the most successful Kew bowler for 2-45.

North Maids are away to Hayes on Saturday.

They follow this up with matches against rivals Kidmore End, Maidenhead & Bray and Windsor.
