Engineers from Thames Water were called out to Cannon Lane today after a pipe started leaking sewage onto a footpath.
It is the second time in two months that the company has been out to fix and clean up after a pipe leak near the railway bridge.
No blockages were found by the team but the path has been been disinfected.
A spokesman for Thames Water said: “Our engineers have been out today (Friday) and cleaned and disinfected the area. "We believe the problem could stem from a privately owned sewer pipe, so we’ll investigate, and if necessary, work with the pipe owner to correct any problems.”
