Hard work and attention to detail has paid off for the top gardeners in Cookham.
The winners of the Cookham in Bloom competition have now been chosen for their high horticultural standards.
There were two categories of judging, Best Front Garden and Best Allotment.
Patricia and Paul Arnott-Patel of Strande Park were awarded first place in the Best Front Garden contest.
Patricia, 81, said: “Surprised is putting it mildly, I was just amazed. I do my garden every year but this is the first time for the competition.
“I wanted to do a meadow garden so I planted two packets of seeds and they came up beautifully.
“I love my garden, I’m there most days. I think when the work gets a bit heavier I’ll stop but I love being in my garden. I’ll do it (Cookham in Bloom) again.”
A prize-giving for the winners was held on Tuesday at the start of the Cookham Parish Council meeting.
The winner of the Best Allotment was Michael Edwards from Cookham Dean allotments.
