The Save Poundfield group and Cookham Society have handed over 100 letters of support to the Royal Borough for the land to be designated as Local Green Space.
The consultation for the designation was due to begin on August 13 but has since been postponed as the council chose to delay its submission of the Borough Local Plan.
Peter Munday from the Save Poundfield group said: “We have people queuing up to send in these letters of support for Local Green Space designation.”
Objectors to the two planning applications that have been submitted for the site want to reinforce to the council the importance of the Local Green Space designation, as currently the Borough Local Plan is set to come in to force too late to impact upon the decisions for the proposed developments.
The letters were handed over at Maidenhead Town Hall on Tuesday.
