A pop-up toy shop raising funds for a children’s hospice supporting children with life-threatening and life-limiting conditions has returned in the Maidenhead Nicholsons Centre.

Alexander Devine Children Hospice Service’s pop-up toy shop has opened its doors this festive season.

The shop is open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 9.30am to 4.30pm until Saturday, December 20.

Shoppers can browse a range of new and ‘good as new’ toys, puzzles, games, and books.

The shop has been organised completely by volunteers who are part of Alexander Devine’s Maidenhead Fundraising Group.

All the money from each item sold goes directly to the charity, helping to fund support and specialist care for babies, children, young people and their families across the area.

Helen Johnson, lead of the Maidenhead Fundraising Group, said: “Following the tremendous success of our shop at the end of last year, we are thrilled to return this Christmas at the Nicholsons Shopping Centre.

“As ever with these shops, we want to express our gratitude to everyone who has generously donated items for us to sell.

“It is wonderful to see the impact that these donations can make.

“Our pop-up shops are always popular with the local community, and we are hoping to raise even more money than we did in our pop-up toy shop last year.

“The shop is regularly restocked with new items, so it is always worth revisiting.”

Debbie Tonkinson, volunteer development manager at Alexander Devine, said: “Organising a pop-up shop of this size is a monumental task, and we deeply appreciate the immense dedication and many hours contributed by our amazing volunteers.

“The success of our pop-up shops is a testament to the extensive behind-the-scenes effort involved.

“Additionally, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who have generously donated items or visited our shops.

“Your kindness is making a significant difference in providing vital care and support to local babies, children, young people and their families.”
