A Hindu youth group is set to embark on a walk in Slough to fundraise for a charity supporting homeless and vulnerable families in need.
Volunteers at HSS Sewa, an initiative of the Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (UK), have planned a gentle walk on Sunday, April 27 to raise money for Slough Outreach as part of its annual fundraising activity to support local charities.
The walk from 9.30am to 2pm, will start from Upton Court Park in Slough and will continue along the Jubilee River before concluding back at the park.
Free fruit and a drink will be provided to every participant.
The group has also invited families to bring a vegetarian picnic to enjoy at the park after the walk.
There will also be fun games for guests to enjoy.
Previously HSS Sewa Maidenhead and Slough has fundraised for The Baby Bank and Thames Valley Adventure Playground (TVAP) through its activities.
Slough Outreach is a community-led initiative which supports those in need in a range of ways, including providing warm clothes, hot meals, support with advocacy and access to medical care.
Saroj Mistry, coordinator for HSS Sewa said: “Every individual deserves a safe place to call home.
“Homelessness exposes people to devastating hardships, vulnerability, and often leads to a cycle of poverty.
“As a community, we have a collective responsibility to show genuine care for those in need and to support them without judgement.”
Shin Dhother, founder of Slough Outreach, said: “We always welcome collaboration with different organisations and are very pleased to be working with HSS Sewa.
“Funds raised will enable us to provide tailored support to the homeless in Slough and the surrounding areas.”
Royal Borough councillor Jack Douglas (Lib Dem, St Mary’s), said: “It is great to hear about the fundraising work that the HSS Sewa in Maidenhead is doing.
“It is my vision to see an effective volunteering hub created in Maidenhead, and with your charitable focus on encouraging volunteering and working with local communities, I hope there is further opportunity for us to work together during 2025.”
