Johnson & Johnson reveals expected timeline for Tempo Maidenhead move

A global pharmaceutical company is expecting to move staff into its new office at Tempo Maidenhead ‘in the second half’ of this year.

Johnson & Johnson signed a deal in 2024 to take up office space at the office building in Maidenhead town centre.

The company has confirmed plans to unite all its employees from campuses in High Wycombe and Pinewood at Tempo.

A spokesperson from Johnson & Johnson said: “Johnson & Johnson in the UK has announced plans to unite all employees from our Thames Valley campuses in High Wycombe and Pinewood in a new state-of-the-art office in Maidenhead.

“This step will create new opportunities for our business and help us to better meet the needs of patients and customers.

“The move is expected to take place in the second half of 2026, and until then employees will continue to work in their current locations.”

A major project by Legal & General (L&G) to transform the former Three building in new state-of-the-art offices was started in 2022 but has been beset with delays.

The new Tempo building was originally due to open in May 2023.

L&G blamed these delays on contractors for the glass frontage, prior to the project’s main contactor ISG, going into administration.

Morgan Sindall was then appointed by L&G to complete the rest of the work.

The project also suffered another blow when it was revealed last year that US tools giant Stanley Black and Decker were no longer set to move into Tempo, having signed a lease for a new office at The Reach in Bridge Avenue.

Last August, an L&G spokesperson told the Advertiser it would be handing over three floors to Johnson & Johnson for a fit-out in November.

The spokesperson added: “We have retained the concrete frame and the façade but all other elements of the building have been replaced as they were obsolete.

“Once we hand over to occupiers later this year, they will need to complete their fit-out out which should be completed by summer/autumn next year.”

A new public café, the Missing Bean café, will also be opening on the ground floor of the Tempo building.

A spokesperson for the business told the Advertiser in August last year: “We’ve been eagerly anticipating this opening.

“We’re especially excited about the wine bar element and have had a lot of fun creating a special wine bar menu to complement our regular offering.”
