Filling Good to move back into Maidenhead High Street store in February

05:00PM, Wednesday 28 January 2026

A community-owned refill shop in Maidenhead town centre is set to return to its High Street site after a flash flood led to a temporary relocation.

Filling Good’s journey in the town began in 2020, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, when it opened its doors for the first time in the old Argos unit in the Nicholsons Centre.

In March 2021, the much-loved shop moved into its new home at 22 High Street where it became a hub for many eco-conscious shoppers.

However, in September 2024, a flash flood at its premises caused ‘major damage’ and led to the shop re-locating into the Eco-Action Hub in the Nicholsons Centre.

The store, which is largely run by volunteers, offers eco-friendly refills as well as sustainable gifts and zero-waste shopping.

The team celebrated its fifth anniversary in November 2025.

Filling Good also operates as a Community Benefit Society and donates ‘a large proportion’ of its profits to organisations who are committed to sustainability.

In a latest development, the team has now announced that it is set to move back into its High Street home on Saturday, February 7.

The return is a ‘celebration of resilience, community spirit and Maidenhead’s commitment to sustainable living’, the team said.

The shop offers household cleaning products, food staples and a range of eco-friendly and ethical gifts.

Shoppers can bring along their own containers and refill everything from pasta and porridge oats to washing-up liquid and laundry detergent.

Additionally, the shop also stocks sustainable everyday essentials as well as locally produced goods.

This includes sustainably sourced coffee, biodegradable toothbrushes, handmade soap and honey from local apiaries.

Each product is ‘carefully chosen to reduce waste and support responsible production’, the team said.

The move back to its premises has provided a chance to redesign the layout of the shop and ‘improve functionality’, making refilling ‘quicker, clearer and more accessible for customers’, the team added.

The grand re-opening of the store on Saturday, February 7 will showcase the newly-refurbished store, and feature a ribbon cutting and promotional giveaways.

Nelly Semaille, founder of Filling Good, said: “Bringing Filling Good back to the High Street is fantastic news for the town.

“We’ve faced some tough challenges, but the support from our customers and volunteers has kept us going.

“Now we’re returning stronger, with a shop layout designed to make refilling easier and more enjoyable for everyone.”

The team said that volunteers are needed to help with the move and management of the High Street shop.
