Customers enjoyed music and festive treats as they were welcomed in to see the new-look Maidenhead Waitrose store on Friday, November 22.

Waitrose innovation and development chef and local resident Will Torrent was on hand to cut the ribbon following an eight-week multi-million-pound makeover.

Singing trio The Bluebird Belles set a seasonal tone as customers sampled some of the products available in this year’s Waitrose Christmas range.

Thirty lucky shoppers also received a share of a £900 giveaway after winning a £30 golden ticket as they took to the tills over the weekend.

The official reveal saw sales boosted ‘significantly’ at the store, compared to the same weekend last year.

The improvements include upgraded fish and meat counters, with a new dry aged beef offering, fresh self-serve options, an expanded wine offering, a new Sushi Daily counter, more space for on-demand shopping orders, frozen pet food and new digital displays.

The store also features new indoor and outdoor horticulture displays, a revamped health and beauty offering, and a new customer welcome desk with a dedicated John Lewis click and collect space.

Mark Brown, Waitrose branch manager: “There has been a real buzz around the store these past few weeks so it’s great that our big day has finally arrived and that we show customers what they’ve patiently been waiting for.

“This is the culmination of a lot of effort from a lot of people, especially our Partners working here, and to see customers’ reactions has been incredibly rewarding.

“We now look forward to taking this positive momentum into the coming weeks to ensure we help provide a brilliant Christmas for our customers.”
