School performance combines nativity story with Stricly Come Dancing

James Hockaday

An unusual twist on a school nativity was put on by St Peter's CoE Primary School pupils on Tuesday.

The Minniecroft Road school's year one and two pupils showed off their finest moves as they danced on stage in a biblical version of the BBC hit show Strictly Come Dancing.

In the show, titled Lights Camel Action, dancers were judged by a donkey, the innkeeper’s wife and Emperor Caesar.

Nativity director Charlotte Loveridge said: "It was amazing, it really was. The parents were in stitches it was really great.”

Having only had a week to practice, Miss Loveridge was impressed with the youngsters' performances.

She added: “They managed to pull that out of the bag," she added.

"I'm over the moon."
