The former Leicester City and Watford player Alan Paris will take over from Mark Betts as Burnham manager.
Paris, who also played for Slough Town during an illustrious playing career, steps into the role vacated by Betts after Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Thame Rangers in the league cup.
Paris, who was born in Slough, made more than 250 appearances in a career that spanned from the early 1980s to the early 1990s.
It has not yet been confirmed if Paris will lead the team for tonight’s crucial Hellenic Premier Division clash against Ascot United at The Gore.
Burnham are bottom of the division with only one win to their name this season, that a 1-0 victory at Highmoor Ibis last week. They’re just a point behind Neil Richards’ Ascot having played one less game.
On a day of announcements the club also revealed that Lee Ebden was stepping into the chairman’s role. He is set to take over from the beginning of November.
The club has been without a full-time chairman since Gary Reeves stood down from the role at the end of last season.
Yesterday (Monday) president Malcolm Higton was remaining tight-lipped on whether Ebden’s arrival would lead to a rumoured takeover of the club.
He said: “I can’t really (give you any information about a possible takeover). It’s a new guy (Ebden) who’s coming in as chairman and he’s been talking about it. It’s his fantasy but once again it’s about what is best for the club.
“He’s been down to the club and has talked to everyone about it.
“And he’s done it before apparently when he was managing a club in the midlands.”
