The body of a man was recovered from the River Thames near Monkey Island Lane, Bray yesterday (Sunday) shortly after 11am.
Firefighters from Maidenhead Fire Station and Caversham Road’s water rescue team recovered the body at Queen’s Eyot Island.
A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: “We are treating the death as unexplained but it is not thought to be suspicious at this time.
"The matter has been handed over to the coroner.”
A spokeswoman from the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We received the call at 11.17am, and one unit from Maidenhead was sent along with a water rescue unit from Caversham.
"A person was recovered from the water."
Fire crews left the scene at 11.51am.
