WSEH’s Alex Stirzaker produced the goods to win the u15 Boys Berkshire Combined Events Championship as well as picking up the Bronze medal for Southern England having competed against some of the best athletes in the UK.
Having returned from injury Stirzaker showed no signs of ring rust and looked determined to put his mark on the event.
Coach With Tom Presho was by his side to ensure that all technical aspects, developed after months of hard training, were executed and that was exactly the case.
Stirzaker ran a personal best 12.39 in the 80m hurdles, followed by another pb in the shot put (8.47).
Stirzaker was not done there as he smashed his personal best in the long jump, with his 5.71m jump a full metre more than his previous best.
A change of technique saw Stirzaker achieve a further pb of 1.65m in the highjump. The final event was the 800m, and despite only competing in it for only the second time, and with minimal recovery time between events, Stirzaker managed to achieve a credible third place.
Teammate Demari Gums also managed to seal a silver medal at the Berkshire Combined Events with an incredible day of numerous PBs.
Taliah Jones took the Berkshire Combined Events gold for the U17 Girls Heptathlon while Nina Balut won the U15 Girls silver medal.
