Eagles Netball Club under-12s and under-13s have been crowned champions of the prestigious Brean Sands tournament, overcoming some of the biggest clubs in the country.
The under-13s began with a comfortable 8-1 win over Hatfield White after which followed three straight forward victories.
Abbey Flyers were then beaten 10-4, before Eagles suffered a narrow one-shot defeat at the hands of Bury.
Day two saw the Eagles win three and draw one of their four matches to reach the quarter-finals.
Abbey Flyers were again the opponents and Eagles won 8-3, setting up a semi-final against Oldham – the team that had beaten Eagles in last year’s final. In a tense match, with both teams displaying great defensive work, Eagles edged a 4-3 victory.
They met Bury in the final and were soon 4-0 down before fighting back to dramatically win 7-6.
Eagles under-12s were triumphant 8-6 in their final against Parkside after a tight, entertaining contest.
Eagle reached the final by beating Jellies, Abbey Flyers, MK Netters and Turnford
11-0, 8-2, 10-2 and 8-3 respectively in the group stages.
They then overcame Rylands Red 7-3 in the quarters and Tameside 9-3 in the semis.
