Runners and walkers are being encouraged to lace for the very first Charvil 5km. The inaugural charity fun run and walk will set off from East Park Farm on Sunday, June 17, from 10.30am and is raising funds for Daisy's Dream, which provides bereavement support for children in Berkshire.

Races across Berkshire in 2012


Queen Mother Reservoir 5k/10k Series - May 15, June 19 & July 17, 7.30pm.

Tuesday evening race series. Popular with club and novice runners. Choose either 10km or 5km. Run around the Queen Mother Reservoir in Datchet. Flat course. Prizes for the individual race winners and overall race series. Toilets, changing and refreshments in Datchet Water Sailing Club. Entries on day unless limit is reached beforehand. All sponsorship money raised to go to WaterAid.

Down Tow Up Flow Half Marathon - July 22, 10.00am.

Flat, multi-terrain, point-to-point half marathon along the Thames towpath. Starting in Windsor and finishing in Marlow, taking in Maidenhead, Cookham and Bourne End along the way. Can park at the finish in Marlow and take the coach provided to the start - once you've finished the race your car will be there waiting for you. No entries on the day and entries accepted until July 14.

Pharmalink Maidenhead Half Marathon - September 16, 09.30am.

Flat, fast, traffic free road course. Route starts and finishes in Maidenhead town centre. Local businesses will be offering coffee, lunch and general shopping. Runners in the 2011 inaugural race keep their race number for the future of the race. Once they have run the race five times their number will change to gold indicate their achievement to all.

Reading O2O 10k - September 30, 9am. This flat race route embraces Reading's waterways for much of the distance. Great spectator-friendly start and finish by the river, with refreshments available. Plenty of free car parking. The race has a history of selling out so enter early to avoid disappointment. The benefiting charity is NSPCC's Childline.

Grand Union Canal Half Marathon - November 11, 10.00am. Point-to-point race from Cowley Recreation Ground, Uxbridge along the Grand Union Canal to Cassiobury Park, Watford. Flat, scenic, unusual, multi-terrain course. Traffic-free apart from one minor road crossing. Choose to leave your car at the finish and use the bus to get to the start - your car will then be waiting for you when you've finished. Book and pay for your seat on the bus when you register.
