The three newly-promoted sides in Blue Square South got off to good starts on Saturday as they all won away from home.

Results of the day came from Team Bath, who put six past Fisher Athletic in South London while Chelmsford City had a 27th-minute Bertie Brayley effort to thank for their win at Hayes & Yeading.

AFC Wimbledon enjoyed their trip along the M4 as they spoiled Dean Holdsworth’s first game in charge of Newport County with a 4-1 win.

- ITV is to show live coverage of Wantage Town’s extra preliminary round clash with Brading Town on Saturday.

The whole game will be shown live from 6.20pm on www.itvlocal.com.

Isle of Wight team Brading, who have never previously taken part in the competition, have been selected by sponsors E.ON as its team to follow in this season’s FA Cup.

E.ON will remain with the winners of Wantage v Brading for the next round and continue to follow the winners of each further match until the final in May.

- After being stranded for the summer following the demise of Halifax Town, England C defender Adam Quinn has finally been allowed to move on.

Quinn was left high and dry and after the administration-run club held out for a fee and has spent the close season training with Mansfield.

However, he was finally able to secure his release and has now joined Blue Square Premier Crawley Town where he joins ex-teammates Jake Wright, Lewis Killeen and Danny Forest.

- A flippant remark over a cancelled pre-season friendly has brought red-faces all round at Aylesbury Town.

The club’s reserve side were due to play at Hellenic League Easington Sports, but the Banbury-based side were staggered to be told by Ducks’ reserve boss Eddie Wright that they would be turning up ‘because the players had gone shopping’.

Aylesbury chairman Graham Read has now apologised, adding: “It is with regret that through the lack of reserve team management, as well as a ground to play on, we will be withdrawing from the Hellenic League with immediate effect.”

- Sutton United’s 17-year-old striker Jerson Dos Santos looks set to join Crystal Palace after a successful trial at the League One club.

Sutton boss Paul Doswell had been left in limbo by the teenager’s indecision on whether to sign a new contract but has now snapped up former AFC Bournemouth star Chukki Eribenne, who was on the bench for Ebbsfleet United in last season’s FA Trophy Final.
