Home Counties safety edging nearer

Four games left and all to play for. A washout of a weekend for all teams, but six points to each keeps it as you were heading into this Saturday.
Burnham, still not safe, have 100 points to play for as they strive to secure their status as a Home Counties club.
Thame Town are next for Mohammed Fazal’s side followed by bottom team Gerrards Cross and then second from bottom Kidlington, before the Memorial Ground club finish with a potential make or break clash against strugglers Buckingham Town.
However, the skipper is hoping that it does not come to the final day and that Burnham are safe before the closing match.
“Like I’ve said before, if we concentrate on the next week then we’ll be safe,” said Fazal. “The objective is to win the next game and look at them one game at a time.
“We want to secure safety with a match or two to spare, not have it come down to the last day of the season.
“There’s a lot of points to play for - 100 in fact and anything can happen.
“We’ll take it a game at a time and keep our fingers crossed for the forecast.”
Saturday’s match with Finchampstead was cancelled without a ball being bowled, leaving cricket addict Fazal annoyed with an afternoon off. “We want to play cricket,” admitted Fazal. “But you can’t argue with the weather. We don’t want to have to take time out.
“We got six points from not playing, but we’d rather have played and win or lose, that’s part and parcel of playing cricket.”
With an away trip to top half of the table side Thame Town on Saturday, Fazal is expecting a rough ride from the opposition. He said: “They are a good side. We expect them to give us a tough game for sure.”
