Berks slip to cup loss

Berkshire’s progress in the group stage of the Minor Counties cup was dented by a 29-run defeat to Cornwall at Camborne CC on Sunday.
In a rain affected match reduced to 40 overs a side Cornwall mustered a competitive 207-6 thanks to a good opening partnership and some lusty hitting at the tail end of their innings.
In reply, Berkshire lost wickets at regular intervals as Cornwall’s disciplined attack controlled the scoring on a wicket that got lower and slower as the match progressed.
An aggressive knock from Naylor, who was eventually last out for a spirited 33 off 18 balls, gave Berkshire some late hope but they finally closed on 178, 30 runs short of victory.
