Berks set for long journey to Cornwall

9:00am Sun 4th May 08:: written by Nick Meakin

After a nail-biting victory over Herefordshire in the first zonal round of the Minor Counties Knockout Trophy, Berkshire CCC today make the long journey to Camborne cricket club to play Cornwall.

With Mitchell Stokes unavailable, his place has been filled by filled by ex-Hampshire professional Jono McLean who has been registered for the county.

McLean’s first-class experience in his native South Africa and with Hampshire means that Berkshire should not be weakened by the absence of Stokes.

Herefordshire was a great start for Berkshire, but manager David Morris is by no means complacent.

He said: "A win is a win, but we need our bowling to show greater discipline if we are to progress in the competition. Our fielding was excellent and I have no worries about our ability to post big totals."
