Royal Windsor Horse Show welcomes local talent

10:00am Fri 25th Apr 08:: written by Claire Moulson

The Royal Windsor Horse Show will welcome several Berkshire-based show jumping riders onto home soil when the prestigious competition goes ahead.

Those leading the charge for spoils at the event, which takes places between May 7-11, will be Tony Pearson, of Maidenhead; James Fisher, of Sonning; Major Richard Waygood, of Windsor; Charlotte Risius, of Ascot; Laura Mantel, of Aldermaston; Paul Crago, of Lower Basildon; and Chris Harris, of Burghfield.

Other highlights at the Castle Arena will be the DAKS Pony Club Mounted Games, the Shetland Pony Grand National and the Mountain and Moorland championship. This year for the first time the action on Saturday will be followed by the Windsor Castle Royal Tattoo.

Penny Henderson, show secretary, said: "Unfortunately we have had to turn riders away such was the premium on places. This is a very prestigious show and as the first major outdoor competition of the season, everyone wants to come and join in."
