New rugby rules to be assessed
9:00am Fri 25th Apr 08:: written by Nick MeakinThe Rugby Football Union is giving people their say on the International Rugby Board’s proposal to introduce eight new rules throughout the game next season.
The RFU believes that some of the new rules could fundamentally change the nature of the sport and is asking everyone involved in the game to give them feedback on the changes.
In an attempt to gauge people's views the RFU have created a special consultation website with a questionnaire that will be open to players, coaches, referees and supporters and gives people chance to compare and vote on the existing laws and the proposed changes before the Union formally responds to the IRB.
Chief Executive Francis Baron said: "We have a number of concerns about the changes and the proposed process that is being followed regarding their introduction.
"As these new rules could potentially result in major changes to the Laws of the Game, the RFU believes it is important to consult those involved in the game at every level and give them an opportunity to express their views.
