Maids are 80 minutes from relegation

10:52am Thu 10th Apr 08:: written by Graeme Copas

It really is do or die for Maidenhead RFC on Saturday when they host Old Patesians at Braywick.

If Maids lose, they are definitely relegated, if they win then, depending on other results, they might go to Coney Hill next Saturday with an outside chance of avoiding the drop.

However, the maths aside, all coach Simon Edwards is focusing on is getting his players mentally and physically prepared for Old Patesians regardless of the ramifications of the match.

After the sacking of coach Andy Barron last week, Edwards is emphasising the positives going into the match.

He said: "There has been no hangover from what happened last week. We move.

There has been no talk about the situation at training, it has all been about the Old Patesians match."

And it is a match that Edwards is looking forward to, saying: "I hope we can play as well as we trained this week.

"The numbers at training have been fantastic, especially given where we are in the league. We never had this many when we were pushing for promotion in the past.

"The players are positive and focused on Old Patesians. We know we are 80 minutes from relegation and that we have to front-up."

The match with Old Patesians kicks off at 3pm.
