Barron spell ends

Maidenhead RFC play their penultimate match of the season on Saturday without head coach Andy Barron who has been sacked after just five games in charge.
The 42-year-old, who took over the hot seat at the start of February, was told by chief executive Simon Edwards that his services were no longer required and, according to Barron, the decision came out of the blue.
He said: "It was a shock. I did not expect it. I have to take my share of the blame for what's happened, but surely Maids' position is not all down to me?
"There were three coaches there, but I'm the only one who has paid the price.
"It wasn't as though we were in great form when I took over." Barron added: "I'm disappointed with the way this has all been handled."

- Andy does seem to have been very badly treated. The team were performing poorly before he arrived - that was one of the reasons he was brought in, and to expect him to be able to turn them around in 5 games is naive and unrealistic. He needed time to train them and re-build the team's spirit and competitive ethos. Contrast the way he has been sacked with the support that Drax has received from his bosses. This seems a very unfair decision, he has my sympathy.
- I can't help feeling that Andy Barron has been a scape goat! The truth is that now Maidenhead are now reaping the results of what Simon Edwards has sowed over the last ten years! The self styled 'Supremo' is on the verge of collecting his second relegation from South West 1, someone should explain what 'the honourable thing' means to him so he can get on and do it!
