Racer escapes death in 100mph horror crash

11:46am Tue 25th Mar 08:: written by Gareth McPherson

A racing driver from Maidenhead stared death in the face over the Easter weekend and survived to tell the tale.

Entrepreneur Hunter Abbott, 27, who now lives in Holyport, smashed his super-revved £50,000 sports car into a barrier at over 100mph just minutes into a British GT4 Championship race in Cheshire.

The death-defying crash saw his spinning airborne car torn to shreds before thumping to the ground and exploding.

The businessman, who won a Royal Borough award as a young entrepreneur three years ago, had his fire-proof suit charred by the flames as he lay upside down in the fireball wreckage.

But the day after the Easter Sunday horror crash the fanatical driver was looking to find a replacement car.

Speaking to the Advertiser yesterday he said: "I'm feeling surprisingly good to be honest. I've been trying to find another car so I can go racing again."

Hunter relives his dramatic crash in an interview in this week's Advertiser.
