Maids back on track

12:00am Mon 26th Nov 07

The hosts dominated from the off, with the ball moving quickly between defence and attack.

Carl Ferrand’s goal midway through the first half was the least that Maids deserved, as the defender reacted first to turn in a short corner rebound.

By half-time the game could have been over, Aylesbury failing to threaten the Maids goal with an attack of substance.

Despite a warning not to allow their opponents back into the game, Maids did exactly that early in the second half.

But anything that did pierce the Maids defence was repelled by keeper Ian Osbon, who was performing as Scott Carson could only have dreamed of.

Despite this, Maids kept plugging away and got their reward, when Jez Bodey’s reverse stick shot and Ant Jones’ short corner strike five minutes from time made the final score 3-0.

First team captain Neel Sood was delighted with the result.
He said: “I thought it was a professional performance on the pitch against a very hard working side.

“We played the ball around really confidently around the back and in midfield, and thus we retained the ball far better than we have done previously and in the end our dominance of the possession told.

“We are very happy with the three points, it will certainly give the team a lift going into the final two games before the winter break.”

Maids travel to British Airways on Saturday knowing the importance of another win.

Sood added: “I wish we could bottle up Saturday’s performance to take away with us, we will need more of the same this week away at BA.

“We had two pretty tasty games against them last season and we know their strengths and how to counter them, so we have to be disciplined and confident.
“If we do I am sure we can come away with at least a point.”

Maidenhead: Osbon, Brown, Ferrand, Sood, Cowell, Adams, Hodson, Barnes, Jones, Bodey, Wood, Joys.
