Courage under fire

12:00am Mon 19th Nov 07

Parnis fired in five goals from short-corners on Saturday to add to the 20 - yes 20 - he has scored in his previous three games.

Indeed, Wycombe, who were relegated last season, have scored 53 goals in their eight games so far this season - so it was never going to be easy.

Maids were powerless to stop their rampaging hosts who went ahead as early as the fourth minute, Jay Lanchbury finishing off a slick team move.

Parniss then swung into action scoring four goals before half-time to put Wycombe 5-0 ahead.

Maids regrouped in the second half, and despite enjoying some good possession and troubling the Wycombe defence on a number of occasions, they couldn’t trouble the scorers.
Parnis scored his fifth and Wycombe’s sixth midway through the half before James Cousins completed the scoring as Wycombe sliced the Maids defence apart.

*Maids host bottom of the table Aylesbury on Saturday, knowing a result is a must. The game is at Altwood School and starts at 2pm.
