MK magic too much for Maids

12:00am Tue 13th Nov 07

Maids gave their all in this frantic encounter, but despite taking a first-half lead they were overhauled by the impressive Buckinghamshire side who ran out 3-1 winners.

Maids had made a strong start, as they sought to build pressure on the visitors.

Their dominance paid off, Maids snatching the lead after 10 minutes when Tim Nott pounced on a loose ball and smashed it past the MK keeper.

Not satisfield with a narrow lead, Maids went in search of more goals. But MK began to find their game as the half wore on and only some stubborn defending maintained Maids’ slender lead.

The visitors emerged from a half-time grilling with a renewed purpose. They were level early in the second half, and went ahead soon after converting a slick short corner routine.

Maids gave their all in search of an equaliser, but as they pushed forward MK scored a third on the break to wrap up victory.

Captain Neel Sood felt his team deserved more from the game. He said: “It was another disappointing result, more so as I thought our performance merited a point at least.

“We did all the right things in the first half, we were calm with the ball, played down the wings and pressed them effectively - good value for the lead.  But half-time came at the right time for them, it gave them a chance to regroup and they were far better second half.”
Sood was positive ahead of Saturday’s derby clash with rivals Wycombe.

He added: “It’ll be a tight affair at Wycombe, as all local derbies can be.

“We have to build on the good things we did on Saturday, of which there were plenty, and stay positive because we have the quality to get back on track.”

Maidenhead: Osbon, Brown, Cowell, Sood (c), Joys, Jones, Forrester, Adams, Bodey, Ferrand Nott, Harris-Evans, Miall.
