Sher eyes title charge

A comprehensive six wicket win again Gerrards Cross last weekend moved Slough up to third in Home Counties Division Two West and reignited their title charge.
It was a vital victory for Bobby Sher’s men coming just seven days after they had suffered a disappointing defeat against lowly Harefield.
Bobby Sher’s side are now right back in the title mix, just 28 points behind leaders Reading, but the Slough skipper has warned his side they can’t afford any more slip- ups.
He said: “We’re in a good position to strike now but we have the tendency this season to suddenly fall back a bit when we’ve been playing well.
“If you look at it, Beaconsfield are bottom of the table and have won just one game this season which was against us.
“Harefield are second from bottom and they’ve won just two games all season, both of which were against us.
“So that shows maybe we’ve relaxed a bit against the lower sides and we can’t afford to do that if we want to win the title.”
Sher added: “I’ve stressed to the guys this week that’s it so important that we work hard in every game now until the end of the season.
“All the lower teams are going to be working extra hard now to avoid relegation so every game is going to be very difficult.
“If we are going for the title we have to start putting a run of wins together which we haven’t done yet this season.”
Slough host bottom club Beaconsfield at Upton Court Park on Saturday.
