9:16am Thu 22nd Jul 10

Maidenhead Rowing Club (MRC) sent a smaller than usual team to the British Rowing Championships but still returned with two silver medals.

Lewis Morgan and Oliver Palmer won their J14 Double Scull heat on Friday to qualify for the final where they finished second behind Walton RC to claim a well deserved silver.

Tom Hope was also celebrating after his second-placed finish in the J18 single scull event.

The reigning J18 National Schools single scull champion fought a hard race in the final but fell away in the closing stages and had to settle for second.

The WJ18 Double Scull of Lexy Dobson and Megain Haines performed well to finish sixth in the final, as did the women’s quad of Claire Cann, Katie-George Dunlevy, Helen Stewart and Sarah Archibald in their final.

  • Missing from this article is the 6th place in the final gained by Dominic Holden of MRC and Aaron George of Claires Court who rowed in a composite J16 - an excellent result considering they have only been rowing as a double for a matter of weeks.Jo Holden
