Saroya off as Magpies lose at Welling

12:04pm Sun 21st Mar 10

A hat-trick from Dean Cracknell sent 10-man Maidenhead United to a controversial 3-1 defeat at Welling United on Saturday.

United had started the game in fine fashion and deservedly took the lead 13 minutes in thanks to Kieran Knight’s clever glancing header.

But Cracknell levelled just before the break and the game then swung dramatically in the favour of the home side 10 minutes after the interval.

A long ball sent Tom Whitnell clear and he fell under a challenge from Nevin Saroya who was sent off by referee Tim Power.

The Magpies battled bravely with just 10 men by Cracknell completed his treble with late goals on 83 and 85 minutes to earn his side the points.
