Desborough women fall just short

12:00am Mon 10th Mar 08

There was a double disappointment for the Desborough women as they reached the semi-finals of the National Championship triples and fours competitions but could not take the next step to the finals.

The triples team of Lorraine Woodley, Katrina Jones and Debbie Stavrou breezed through to face Ryedale in the semi-finals but were narrowly beaten 16-17.

Then the fours team, with the same players plus Norah Holder, took on Cumbria in the first round and just got home 21-20 to beat Mote Park in the quarter-finals but came unstuck against North Wilts in the semi’s losing by 30-10 shots.

Earlier in the week the doubles pairing of Katrina Jones and Debbie Stavrou were beaten in the first round by Cumbria and on the same day Debbie Stavrou’s singles aspirations were stifled by another Cumbria bowler as she was beaten 21-19 by Karen Edmondson.
