Fans angry after slump

4:08pm Mon 10th Mar 08

Maidenhead United slipped to their heaviest defeat of the season, losing 5-0 to Eastleigh on Saturday.

A goalless first half gave no indication of what was to come, as Eastleigh overran their opponents after the break.

Karl Murray, the Eastleigh midfielder, opened the scoring after 57 minutes, before Andy Forbes scored twice on 66 and 73 minutes. Paul Sales headed in after 68 minutes and Warren McBean completed the rout, scoring with his first touch with 10 minutes of the match remaining.

The result sparked an angry reaction from the fans, who vented their frustration at the players and management at the final whistle. The Magpies are now in 16th in the table, with 34 points, and are now only eight points clear of the relegation zone.

They travel to Dorchester, their fellow strugglers, on Saturday desperate for a win to arrest a slump that has seen them concede eight goals in their last 135 minutes of football, without scoring.
