Maids handed MK hiding

12:00am Mon 25th Feb 08

Maidenhead were hammered 7-1 by high-flying Milton Keynes on Saturday, as their recent good run came to a shuddering halt.

Maids were always second best but matched their opponents for the first 25 minutes. Milton Keynes took an early lead, but Maids hit back to equalise soon after when Anthony Jones fired in after a slick short corner routine.

However, despite a period of intense Maidenhead pressure, the hosts started to control the game and fired in three more goals before the half-time break.

In the second half Maids had some good spells of hockey with Alan Hodson and Jez Bodey working hard to gain some measure of control in midfield.

However, a committed Milton Keynes side continued to hunt for goals scoring twice in the last few minutes of the game.

Maids did have a late chance to reduce the arrears but missed the opportunity from a penalty stroke.
