REVIEW: Les Misérables at the Rhoda Mcgaw Theatre, Woking

I’ve never seen ‘Les Misérables’ performed professionally in the West End, but after seeing this production by The Berkshire Arts Academy, I don't think I’ll bother.

That’s not a criticism, I just don’t think it will match the enjoyment and amazement I got from watching a cast of very talented youngsters perform this complex of musicals with enthusiasm, confidence and a professionalism that belies their experience.

This was an excellent ensemble piece with some outstanding performances from, well, everyone. That’s not lazy reviewing on my part, it just the truth.

Each of the young actors, be they principles or chorus, just owned their parts along with amazing vocals and theatre skills that thoroughly deserved the standing ovation they received.

There were adults involved in the direction, music and other technical aspects and they must be congratulated, but tonight was when we did hear the people sing and they were magnificent.
