Ensuring that students 'continue to receive the best education and opportunities we can offer' is the aim of the new St Nicolas School headteacher.
Clare Wagstaff assumed her new role at the Rectory Road primary school on Tuesday, taking over from Paul Adams who has left after just over two years.
Mrs Wagstaff, who has been teaching for over 25 years, is looking forward to her time at the school, which she says has a clear sense of moral purpose and a community feel.
She said: “My priorities this term are to get to know the staff, children, parents and wider community and start to develop links whilst ensuring that the children continue to receive the best education and opportunities we can offer.
"I am very passionate about teaching and learning and monitoring each and every child’s progress; encouraging children to be independent and resilient learners is key.”
Mrs Wagstaff has come from being headteacher at Shinfield St Mary’s C of E Junior School.
