A planning application has been submitted to the Royal Borough for a replacement church in St Marks Road.
The new building will replace Burberry Gospel Hall and the aim of it is to ‘increase activity in the building’.
The current building is described as ‘sub-standard’ on the Design and Access Statement.
There are four aspects to the proposed scheme submitted by the Seventh-day Adventist Church, which include enlarging the entrance porch, and for the overall construction and appearance to be improved.
To the rear of the building an extension will provide a small meeting room which will be used for children’s groups and to the east side an extension will provide a kitchenette with full disabled access.
The plans have received one community comment which objects to the size of the scheme and the disruption building work would cause for residents.
A decision is expected by Tuesday, July 19.
