Woman suffers from fractured skull after underpass robbery

A woman has been hospitalised with a fractured skull after a robber stole her bag as she walked through an underpass in Maidenhead.

The 28-year-old is in hospital in a serious but stable condition after being injured as she walked through the tunnel off Silco Drive at about 6.30pm on Saturday.

Police said they are unsure how she sustained her injuries and are appealing for witnesses.

The suspect, who was chased off by a member of the public, is described as white, 6ft to 6ft1ins, in his early to mid twenties, of a big, strong build, with a prominent bone structure and a square jaw.

He was clean shaven and wearing a black canvas jacket, which was long enough to cover his hips, a black woollen hat and blue jeans.
