A behind-the-scenes insight into the fascinating world of the film industry was given to year eight pupils at Claires Court Senior Boys.
Renowned art director and production designer Terry Ackland-Snow came to talk to the students on Friday, April 29, at the Ray Mill Road East school.
Having worked on more than 80 film and television productions, Terry’s career has seen him working on the likes of James Bond (The Living Daylights), Aliens, The Dark Crystal, Superman 2 and Spies Like Us alongside top directors including Tim Burton, who charged Terry with designing the Batmobile in the 1989 Batman film.
After his talk the students were able to show Terry their artistic skills.
Terry said: “I am keen to encourage young people into the film industry, but I have to be honest with them so they realise what a tough business it is to get into.
“They need to work hard and show an appreciation and understanding of the work of this kind. Getting into studios and meeting art directors is invaluable. In their work today I have seen some real artistic talent and some creative and imaginative pieces.”
