Residents have been angered by the mess left at Town Moor over the weekend – including a microwave, bottles and furniture.
Travellers moved onto the site off Blackamoor Lane last week and were ordered to move by police over the bank holiday weekend.
A resident, who believes the mess was left by the travellers, has called the council to take ‘tougher action’.
In a letter signed off by ‘concerned residents’, it said there needed to be ‘serious sanctions for such disrespectful behaviour’.
“At very least they should be forced to come and clear the site before they vacate it. All we ask is that they leave it in the same state they found it.”
A Royal Borough spokeswoman said: “The police ordered the travellers to leave the site, which they did over the weekend. We are aware of the fly-tipping on the site and officers worked to clear this as soon as possible.”
