Concerns over the new Windsor Link Railway (WLR) have been revealed by a consultation carried out by the Royal Borough.
The privately-funded multi-million pound project could see a direct rail link between Maidenhead and Windsor.
A consultation was undertaken as part of the borough’s Local Plan Survey last summer and the results were published on Tuesday.
The results showed 64 per cent of the 643 respondents claimed to be in favour of the Windsor Link Railway scheme
Reasons for supporting the railway included an increase to business and tourism and improved connectivity.
Reasons for concerns and objections against the project included the cost, disruption during the works and an adverse effect on the historic character of Windsor and the environment.
A statement on the WLR website said: “Many of the objections appear to arise from misunderstandings of the scheme so WLR expects that public support to be even higher as these are addressed.”
