A rower from Australia who is taking part in the Olympics at Eton Dorney was arrested in the early hours of this morning.

The 21-year-old is believed to be Joshua Booth who is staying with other Australian rowers at Eton Dorney Centre in Lake End Road which is near to the Olympic venue. It is a former vicarage owned by Eton College.

Police were called to Egham High Street in Egham, Surrey, at about 1.40am today following reports of a criminal damage incident.

Two windows were smashed and an arrest was made at the scene on suspicion of criminal damage.

Police said the man arrested was taken into custody at Staines Police Station. He was then taken to St Peter’s Hospital in Chertsey for medical treatment.

He has been bailed to return to Staines Police Station tomorrow.
