Kids could win the chance to turn on town's Christmas lights

An artistic competition has been launched giving children the chance to kick start the festive season by lighting up Maidenhead.

The winners of a drawing competition hosted by Norden Farm will be invited to turn on the town's Christmas Lights on Saturday next week (Nov 26) from the Town Hall in St Ives Road.

Talented youngsters under eight are being asked to draw pictures of characters from children's book Miki having an adventure either under the sea or in a wintry world.

Miki will be joining winners for the big switch on and will also receive a goody bag containing four tickets to a family show at the Altwood Road Arts centre, a copy of Miki signed by creator Stephen Mackey and some art goodies.

The competition deadline is Friday (November 18) and winners will be contacted on Monday.

Pictures should include on the back the child's name, age, the name of the parent or guardian, a contact number, email address and postal address.

Entries can be sent to Hannah Grant, Education Officer, Norden Farm Centre for the Arts, Altwood Road, Maidenhead, SL6 4PF.
