New Royal Borough mayor to be appointed tonight
Cllr Colin Rayner

The new mayor of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead will be officially appointed tonight.

Cllr Colin Rayner (Con, Horton and Wraysbury) will take the chains from outgoing mayor Cllr Asghar Majeed (Con, Oldfield) in a ceremony at Windsor Guildhall.

A well-known farmer, Cllr Rayner is a governor of Berkshire College of Agriculture, a member of Horton Parish Council with his wife Samantha, and a Freeman of the City of London.

He will represent the borough in one of the most high profile years in its history, which will see both the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the Olympic Games marked in the area.

Cllr Andrew Jenner (Con, Maidenhead Riverside) will be appointed as deputy mayor at the ceremony, which starts at 7.30pm.
