The Big Society Panel will consider making the Friends of the RBWM Library Service a registered charity on Tuesday.
The panel will discuss a report from the friends about the formation and operation of it as a Big Society initiative.
The friends would support the library service with fundraising, promotional activity, volunteer support and reading development programmes.
The panel will also look at awarding money from the Big Society grant of £181,207 and is being recommended to follow the decisions made by the panel sub-group, including giving £10,000 to the Royal Borough Youth Council and £15,000 to the WRVS to help the CareBank project.
The meeting will also look at progress on the Big Society Proposals, including devolution to parishes, and will consider a report on Ways into Volunteering.
The meeting is in the Council Chamber, Town Hall, Maidenhead at 7pm.
