A Maidenhead man has admitted trying to sell cut up parts of the Altwood memorial.
Adam Brettell, 31, of Evenlode, appeared at Reading Crown Court today and admitted handling stolen goods.
He was arrested after the bronze statue The Companions was stolen from Ray Mill Island in October.
It had been placed there to commemorate four Maidenhead boys who died on a school trip.
Brettell was caught selling cut up parts of the bronze to a scrap metal merchant.
Brettell will return to the same court on March 16 for sentencing. He was released on conditional bail.
