Firefighters were called out to a blaze on the motorway yesterday.
At around 5pm a crew from Maidenhead green watch went out to a blue Peugeot on fire.
The car's engine was on fire and they had to close the hard shoulder and lane one westbound on the M4 between Maidenhead and Winnersh.
Firefighters used one hose reel and one set of breathing apparatus to put it out.
Chris Havers, green watch manager at Maidenhead, said: "We saved his carpentry tools, his livelihood, which were in the boot."
